Don't Leap Into Dating Online

I messaged this girl that I met on Plenty Of Fish and really didn't give it much though when I received no reply. That’s the way it goes sometimes.  But after a couple of weeks went by and I had totally forgotten about her, I saw that she had finally replied and left her phone number. It struck me as strange that someone who didn't know me that well and had never spoke to me in person would all of a sudden ,just out of the blue, leave me her phone number. In hindsight, I likely should have tossed that email, but I was in the dumps because I had not had a date in some weeks, so I decided to text her.

This started an avalanche of text messages back and forth for the next few days. We finally decided it was time to meet. She drove a long way to see me. Almost 60 miles. It was kind of an ego boost for me that a woman would do that just to see me.In person, she seemed to be really nice. Easy to talk to. The fact that she looked pretty hot only added to the plusses. She invited me back to her house to spend the night. On the way back, we got into a bit of mutual fondling, but of course that could only be a prelude because she was driving. We got back to her place and started listening to some music while snuggling on the couch.

All of a sudden she she got a few text messages which she answered. On top of this, her phone started to ring non-stop, and she seemed compelled to answer it rather than just turn it off for a while. Needless to say, I was not impressed with this side of her. To add insult to injury, when she was not focussed on the phone, she started to tell me all about her ex boyfriend and her trials with him! As if I cared! So I sat there absentmindedly making sympathy noises while I got more and more steamed. But hey, I must have done something right because we eventually had sex so it was worth listening to her shit. We were hardly done before she jumped out of bed and scurried down the hall to her friend's room. She never returned. I thought, “What the hell's up with that? Does that girl have a few screws missing or something?”  So I just laid back down and went to sleep, alone and somewhat confused.

I woke up alone and wondering what I was going to do. I decided to get the hell out of dodge as fast as I could. When I opened the bedroom door, her girlfriend was standing there looking at me as if I was some undesirable bug. I could see a lot of anger in her directed my way. Then it dawned on me. Her roommate had a thing for the girl who had brought me here. Just to needle her a bit, I decided to take a shower. But the joke was on me. The water smelled so bad that I ended up smelling worse afterwards than I did before. That really put me in an ugly mood.

After dressing, I decided to go back to the bedroom and wait for my date to show up. I wanted to find out what was going on. Mostly, I just wanted to know how I was going to get home. When she finally showed up, she told me that she was in crap up to her eyeballs because she had taken the car yesterday without permission. Her roommate's mom had flipped her lid and kicked her out over the episode. She had to leave in an hour.

Yesterday she was straight, other than the wine we drank with dinner, but today she was on something. So was her roommate. This wild freak of a guy came to drive us to my date's mother's house. The house turned out to be quite isolated. The living room was full of creepy looking people. Most of them were pretty drugged out. There was a strange odor in the air which I assumed came from a batch of something cooking out back someplace. Most of them were just laying around listening to  overbearingly loud obnoxious music. Really strange. If you have ever seen a freaky party scene in an old B horror movie, then you can imagine what I was looking at. Then I started to think about some scenes from “Deliverance” and really started to freak out.

A couple of them actually got into an animated discussion as to which train I had to take to get home. The girl and her mother disappear somewhere in the house. After about ten more minutes, that seemed like an hour in this looney bin, we were on our way. The strange guy driving dropped the girl and her mother off at another destination and we continued on.
This guy really freaked me out. He was all in black, had his hair spiked and some of his teeth filed. About the only thing that he needed to look more like Count Dracula was the cape. Of course he also needed a good Bela Lugosi accent. Either way, I was weirded out. It was the constant grinning that got to me. I was pretty sure I would crap my drawers any time now. I gave my kegel muscles a good workout on that trip. I had my ass clamped as tight as a teenager in prison. I was beginning to think he was going to take me all the way home, but he finally stopped at a train station and let me out. I thanked him and literally ran inside.

As it turned out, with all the delays at the house, we missed the train I was supposed to catch. I had to wait three more hours for the next one. On top of that, I did not have enough money to get all the way back. So I just sat back and stewed. I ended up detraining about an hour from home. With no money, I had no alternative but to walk and thumb the rest of the way home. It was cold, it was raining, and I was disgusted, but was so glad to be back in my nice warm, comfortable home.

Plenty of Fish might better be called Plenty Of Freaks from my perspective. I have used a couple of other dating sites since, but they are all paying sites now. I have learned that some times free is not always the best way to go. And some sites are not always safe because any moron, freak and weirdo can also join, just because it is free.
Not all free sites are bad. In fact, POF may actually be okay for most people. I may have had a worse experience than most. But in the final analysis, they have a harder time filtering out idiots because they tend to get more of them.

Once I had made the decision to leave POF, I had another issue to solve. How would I find a replacement site that was actually better. After a lot of searching, I finally found a site that rated a bunch of dating sites. It has been successful for me, so I am passing that on to you. There are risks in joining any dating site, but especially so for free sites. So be safe. The link below is the one I have used to advantage. I hope it works for you too.
